Novak Cyclone

I always wanted a Novak Cyclone. It is such a cool and powerful ECS. We are talking about an ESC from 1996! No brushless, no reverse, just raw brushed powered.

I bought if of eBay for $20 for parts. Yes it was broken, but it is hard to find a working one for a decent price. I was hoping that the internal wasn't too bad.

This is what it looked like when I got it

And it certainly wasn't looking better inside

A little scared I removed the mosfets and schottky diode. The board was very scorched. It had burned the fiberglass pcb so bad that it was conductive :-(
I removed as much as I could and still have some material left. The traces was also blown.
After some cleaning and further testing that everything else looked fine it was time to see if the CPU was ok.
And yes she's alive :-)

Time to put some new fets in and try it out

Time to fix the case.

I heated it up and tried to push the hot plastic back in place. Some plastic I had to cut away.
Not perfect and but it was ok for my liking.

Time to test

Works great.
Looks good in my 1990 RC10 Team Car #6035
